Sense makes a home energy monitor that clips onto the main feeds in an electrical panel and samples current and voltage at high frequency. Machine learning identifies individual appliances from their electrical signatures, so the app reports consumption by device, detects when loads turn on and tracks solar production. The company also licenses its technology to smart meter manufacturers such as Landis+Gyr for utility deployments.
