Dashboard

A visual display that brings together live and historical data from devices as charts, gauges, maps and alerts so people can see the state of a system at a glance.

Dashboards are the most visible output of an IoT project and often the first thing stakeholders ask for. Tools such as Grafana, platform-native builders and custom web apps query a time-series database and render fleet status, KPIs, per-device detail and alarm lists. Industrial users will recognize the lineage from the HMI.

A good dashboard answers a question rather than showing everything. The failure mode is a wall of gauges nobody reads; the better pattern is a top-level view of what needs attention, with drill-down into detail. Dashboards also expose data quality problems quickly, which makes them useful during commissioning even if the final product delivers insights through alerts and reports instead.
